I think about the late summer crop of tomatoes in the south of France pretty much nonstop throughout the year, often wishing I had a bowl full of them, beautifully sliced, topped with chunks of fresh bufala mozzarella, drizzled with balsamic vinegar and olive oil and sprinkled with sea salt. So good! And finally, after months of waiting, I just devoured the most flavorful tomato salad imaginable and couldn't be happier.
All night long, I couldn't stop thinking about the tomatoes! I woke up bright and early, did my usual morning stretches, walked to the top of the village and headed straight to the Friday farmer's market to pick up bunches of brightly colored, jewel-like tomatoes, fruits and vegetables. I'm thinking about making shortcake with the raspberries I found later this weekend. Mmmmmmmm. Maybe I'll tape it and make a video. ;-) Shortcake is another huge obsession of mine.
