Christmas is breathing down my neck, and there's still some last minute things to do, but overall I'm feeling on top of my game. Today, for instance, I made the coolest (well, I think they're pretty cool) ornament shaped gingerbread cookies for a holiday dinner I attended this evening, and making them gave me ideas for a whole theme of ornament cookies next year. We ate the most incredible food tonight -- latkas with sour cream and applesauce, green beans and the most tender and flavorful beef brisket I've ever had in my life. Other than cookies, there was also a wonderful chocolate coconut dessert that a guest who made them said she once called Disaster Bars, but she thought that was too depressing sounding, so she now calls them Yum Bars. Whatever their official name, they indeed were YUMMY, and I want the recipe! To be continued ... time to wrap gifts ...
